Navigation

Navigation is essential to our curriculum at Peninsula High School's NJROTC program, equipping cadets with vital skills in nautical orientation and maritime guidance. Through comprehensive lessons and practical exercises, cadets learn to navigate both on land and at sea using traditional tools and modern technologies. They become proficient in reading nautical charts, understanding navigational aids, and plotting courses. Additionally, cadets explore the principles of celestial navigation and how to utilize the stars, sun, and other celestial bodies for orientation. By mastering the art of navigation, our cadets develop a deep sense of confidence and self-reliance, crucial traits for future naval leaders and individuals embarking on maritime careers. These skills not only enhance their understanding of naval operations but also prepare them to navigate the challenges of life with precision and determination.
